with a fantastic library, hands on experience and the people to make your study , a
fascinating experience. Our programs for schools offer them a unique approach to mass
media production.

Orientation: Introduction & Overview of course.

Hands-on Camera #1
Introduction camera, lenses, learn to load and operate camera and tripod.

Writing #1
This class is designed to help students develop their scripts. It focuses on the
fundamentals of visual storytelling and provides students with constructive analysis and
support as they take their stories from initial idea to finished script. Topics will
include: Story Structure, character, Dramatic Arc., Set-up and Pay off, Writing
Discipline.

Hands-On Camera #2
Review camera and lenses. Introduction to light meter, exposure, and depth of field.
Preparation for exterior camera test.

Exterior Camera Test in Naucalli Park and Surroundings
Shoot focus, exposure, lens perspective, with supervision of instructor and staff.

Director's Craft #1
This course is the spine of the curriculum. It introduces students to the language and
practice of videodirecting. This class will take you through your first three film
exercises and be the venue for screening and critiquing your work.

Lighting Workshop
Shoot lighting test to lear the fundamental lighting techniques. Key, fill and back light;
Contrast Ratios; Soft and Hard Light.

Director's Craft #2
Film Language and grammar. Using shot size, angle, lens choice, camera movement,
composition and staging to tell the story. Working as a crew.

Crew Production Meeting
Each crew meets with instructor to discuss stories, story boards, floor plans, production
plans, casting and locations.
Thursday

Screen Camera & Lighting Tests
Discuss and Critiquevideo footage with instructor. Learn how to exposure, focus and lens
choice affect the shot. Apply lessons to your first video.

Production Workshop #1
This class is designed to demystify the craft of video making. Technical aspects of
videomaking are seen as tools for students to express the objective of the given scene.
Students shoot directing exercises in class with supervision of the instructor. Exercises
will help students prepare for their weekend shoot.
Friday

Check Out Camera and Lighting Equipment for First VidoFilm.
This is the first of four videofilms you will direct.
This weekend you will work on three of the 5 videos in which you will be director of
Photography, Asst. Camera or Gaffer.
You have Friday, Saturday and Sunday to Shoot Your
VideoFilms
You will work in groups of four people with each student
rotating in the positions of Director, D.P., Asst. Camera and Gaffer.
